West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended warm wishes on Chhath Puja, acknowledging volunteers and organizers for ensuring the festival's smooth conduct in Kolkata. She expressed gratitude for their hard work, noting the challenges faced during the fast, which entails 36 hours without food or water. The state government has granted a two-day leave for the occasion, and arrangements such as creating ponds have been made to aid worshippers facing water scarcity.

The Chief Minister also participated artistically by singing a song she composed, which was shared online. In addition to CM Banerjee's efforts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also sent his heartfelt greetings across the nation, highlighting the unique tradition of offering 'arghya' to the setting sun, as part of the Chhath Puja celebrations.

The festival, spanning October 25 to 28 this year, is a deeply spiritual four-day event dedicated to the Sun God, starting with Nahay-Khay and concluding with the Usha Arghya. This practice of rigorous fasting and prayer symbolizes collective resilience and faith across communities, celebrating health, prosperity, and success.
