In a landmark move towards enhancing indigenous defense capabilities, the Indian Army is preparing to place a substantial order for 2,408 Nag Mark 2 anti-tank guided missiles and 107 NAMICA tracked vehicles. This advanced iteration features multiple enhancements based on user feedback, distinguishing it from its predecessor.
The Defence Ministry is expected to approve this proposal at the upcoming Defence Acquisition Council meeting on October 23. Developed and produced by Bharat Dynamics Limited, the Nag Mark 2 underwent successful field evaluation trials earlier this year at Pokhran Field Range, with senior Indian Army officials in attendance.
Endorsed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the initiative aims to bolster self-reliance in military technology. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi also advocates for homegrown weaponry to address modern warfare challenges effectively.
