Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is slated to speak at the pivotal second edition of the Indian Navy's biannual Commanders' Conference, happening in the nation's capital from October 22 to 24. The conference gains added importance due to the ongoing 'Operation Sindoor' and the Navy's heightened focus on operational readiness.

The Indian Navy is concentrating on enhancing its combat capabilities and improving interoperability with the Indian Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard. This initiative aims to mitigate emerging threats and display India's maritime strength in the Indian Ocean Region and the broader Indo-Pacific territories. Both Defence Minister Singh and Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan are expected to discuss national interests and India's strategic direction towards the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Serving as a critical juncture for strategic discussions, the conference will also provide interaction opportunities with top national bureaucrats. Attendees, including the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Air Staff, will pursue enhanced joint planning and execution of operations, focusing on optimizing resources for capability expansions. Other agenda topics include the Navy's operational roadmap, digitization efforts, and the implications of disruptive technologies such as AI, Big Data, and ML on defense strategies.
