Chernihiv Resilience: Overcoming Power and Water Crises Amid Russian Strikes
In Ukraine's Chernihiv region, Russian attacks recently killed four people, disrupted power for hundreds of thousands, and caused serious water issues. Power has partially been restored, but drone strikes continue to hinder repair efforts. The community, however, remains resilient as authorities set up 'invincibility points' for heat and electricity.

In a devastating escalation, Russian attacks have claimed four lives in Ukraine's Chernihiv region, affecting power and water supplies for hundreds of thousands. With winter looming, this marks another chapter in Moscow’s attempts to destabilize Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
The local energy ministry confirmed that Chernihiv and nearby areas had been plunged into darkness following targeted strikes on power facilities. Although some electricity was restored in the afternoon, residents were still left to gather water from street cisterns and seek shelter in 'invincibility points' set up by authorities.
Ongoing drone threats have hampered repair work, exacerbating the crisis. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the attacks, while local leaders vowed resilience. Meanwhile, Moscow's increased air assaults have turned many Ukrainian locales into battlegrounds, leaving civilians grappling with ongoing threats.
