In a recent press briefing, CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan lambasted the threats and cyberattacks against music group Nandagovindam Bhajans, allegedly spearheaded by the Sangh Parivar, for performing a Christian devotional song during a Hindu temple festival in Kottayam, Kerala.
Govindan asserted that the group's actions reflected Kerala's secular ethos, with even the temple management backing the performance. However, he accused certain Hindu religious extremists of attempting to 'disrupt communal harmony' in response.
The veteran leader also denounced recent BJP protests in Kerala's capital, including alleged attacks on police by BJP activists and disparaging remarks towards law enforcement made by BJP leaders and former police chiefs R Sreelekha and T P Senkumar. With confidence in his party, Govindan foresees an LDF victory in the upcoming elections.
