Slovenia Boycotts Eurovision Over Israel Participation

Slovenia's national broadcaster, RTV Slovenia, has announced that it will not air the Eurovision Song Contest this year. The decision follows Slovenia's withdrawal from the event over Israel's participation.
This year's Eurovision, slated for May 12-16 in Vienna, features 35 countries competing. Slovenia, along with Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Spain, has opted to boycott the event due to Israel's involvement.
Instead of the contest, RTV Slovenia will air the film series "Voices of Palestine." Slovenia has been a vocal critic of Israel's actions in the Israel-Hamas conflict. Eurovision has frequently faced political controversies, including Russia's 2022 expulsion after invading Ukraine.
