Shiv Ratan Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Bikaji Foods International Ltd, passed away in Chennai on Thursday morning, according to family sources. Aged 74, Agarwal had expressed feeling unwell and later succumbed at a private hospital in Tamil Nadu's capital.
A resident of Sardulganj in Bikaner, Agarwal established the renowned Bikaji brand in 1993. What initially started as a modest business has since grown into a major food brand recognized both in India and internationally, particularly for their signature 'Bikaneri bhujia'.
The news of his death elicited heartfelt condolences from political figures, including former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who highlighted Agarwal's contributions to bringing global fame to Bikaneri bhujia. The family is currently grieving this significant loss.
