A somber incident unfolded in Rajasthan's Hanumangarh district when two young men tragically drowned in a canal during a religious ritual.

The mishap occurred Wednesday in the Sadul Branch canal, where 20-year-old Mohit Swami slipped into the water while immersing 'puja' materials. In a courageous rescue attempt, Aman Bajigar, 19, and Mohit Thalod, 19, jumped in after him.

Although a disaster management team eventually brought them ashore and quickly transported them to a district hospital, the lives of Swami and Bajigar could not be saved. Mohit Thalod, however, survived and is reported to be in stable condition according to Additional SP Arvind Vishnoi.
