The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) is set to open its 24th edition with the much-anticipated Malayalam espionage thriller 'Patriot'. This film, marking the first on-screen reunion of industry legends Mohanlal and Mammootty in 18 years, is poised to be a significant cinematic event.
The festival, recognized for uplifting South Asian cinema in the US, runs from April 23 to 26. It will present a diverse slate of 27 films from various countries, with highlights like Anusha Rizvi's 'The Great Shamsuddin Family', Anuparna Roy's 'Songs of Forgotten Trees', and the documentary segment's emotional portraiture and innovative storytelling.
Women filmmakers are taking the spotlight at this year's festival, with 13 out of 18 short films directed by women. Behind the scenes, IFFLA supports filmmakers through its Industry Days forum and the IFFLA Connect program, fostering connections and developmental opportunities for South Asian creatives in the film industry.
