NATO is bolstering Turkey's air defences by deploying another U.S. Patriot missile system to the southern province of Adana. Adana is home to the Incirlik Air Base, housing personnel from several countries, including the U.S., Qatar, Spain, and Poland, alongside Turkish troops.
The Turkish Defence Ministry highlighted that this comes in addition to national security measures and the existing Spanish-deployed Patriot system. The Allied Air Command in Ramstein, Germany, has overseen this latest installation. Turkey, with NATO's second-largest army, remains a pivotal player in the alliance.
Despite advancements in military technology, Turkey still relies on NATO's eastern Mediterranean air defences, having intercepted missiles from Iran since the conflict started. The ongoing enhancement of air defence capabilities marks a significant step in regional security dynamics.
