Navratri Prompts Complete Closure of Urban Meat and Fish Shops

The local authorities have mandated the shutdown of all meat and fish shops within urban regions for the duration of the nine-day Chaitra Navratri festival, which commences on March 19. This decision was confirmed by the Municipal Corporation on Tuesday.
Issued by Municipal Corporation Public Relations Officer Sandeep Srivastava, the directive aims to uphold the spiritual and sacred aspects of the festival. Officials have also been instructed to maintain cleanliness and road conditions leading to Durga temples in Varanasi and other religious sites.
Emphasizing 'sattvik' or pure practices during the festival, strict compliance with the order will be enforced. The municipal administration warns that violations of these directives will result in stringent actions.
