Punjab Embarks on Year-Long Celebrations for Guru Ravidas' Legacy
The Punjab government has launched year-long celebrations to honor the 649th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas, a revered 15th-century saint, poet, and social reformer. The festivities aim to propagate his teachings throughout the state, culminating in a three-day event at Shri Khuralgarh Sahib.

On Wednesday, the Punjab government initiated a state-wide anniversary celebration for Guru Ravidas, a 15th-century saint known for his social reforms. This year-long series of events commenced with a three-day state event at Shri Khuralgarh Sahib.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema emphasized the preparations for an unprecedented celebration of the 650th Parkash Purab in 2027, which aims to spread Guru Ravidas' teachings throughout Punjab's institutions. Educational and cultural programs are planned across the state.
The opening ceremony drew spiritual leaders and politicians, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann scheduled to attend the concluding day. The celebrations will focus on Guru Ravidas' message of truth and dedication to community welfare. Infrastructure improvements are also underway for religious sites.
