The Indian Navy's Southern Naval Command has announced a venue change for this year’s Navy Day celebrations, moving the annual event from Kochi to Thiruvananthapuram on December 4.
The celebrations will include an operational demonstration at Shanghumukham beach and various outreach activities across the city. In a press release, officials stated this shift continues the Navy’s tradition of taking the event to venues beyond major naval stations, as previously seen in Puri, Odisha, and Sindhudurg, Maharashtra.
Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, will host the event. Additionally, pre-celebration events, including Naval Base visits for special children and senior citizens, and workshops by the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, will engage the local community ahead of the main event. The Southern Naval Command Band will also present a concert in Thiruvananthapuram on November 26 and a special performance in Kochi on December 10.
