Ultra-Runner Blanchard Ventures Into Ocean Racing

Ultra-runner Mathieu Blanchard is embarking on a thrilling new chapter in his athletic career by participating in his first offshore sailing race, the Transat Cafe L'Or, with experienced sailor Conrad Colman.

Blanchard's passion for adventure was sparked years ago by reading tales of ocean crossings. This dream materialized after his recent victory in the prestigious Diagonale des Fous race. Meeting Belgian actor Francois Damiens, who participated in the race in 2013, further cemented his desire to take on such a challenge.

The partnership with Colman arose when the American sailor reached out during his second Vendee Globe participation. After extensive training, including a survival course, Blanchard is keen on tackling the tough conditions, despite initial seasickness. Post-race, roles will reverse in Martinique, allowing Blanchard to guide Colman through local trails.
