The Indian Navy has officially received the 'Mahe', an anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft, on October 23. This vessel is equipped with sophisticated torpedoes, anti-submarine rockets, and modern radars, enhancing India's maritime defense capabilities, according to officials.
The 'Mahe', named after the historic port town in Puducherry, signifies India's rich maritime heritage. It is the first of eight such crafts being constructed by Cochin Shipyard Limited, embodying the country's drive for self-reliance in naval shipbuilding.
With over 80% indigenous content, 'Mahe' is designed to deliver robust underwater surveillance and warfare capabilities in coastal waters. Its addition is seen as a significant boost to India's anti-submarine warfare prowess, reflecting the nation's commitment to 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and improved maritime security.
