Poland Takes Center Stage at 31st Kolkata International Film Festival

Poland is set to be the spotlight country at the 31st Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), which is scheduled to take place from November 6 to 13. A KIFF official confirmed the focus on Polish cinema during a statement on Tuesday.

The festival will showcase five distinct categories concentrating on Poland. These include contemporary Polish films, classic works by renowned Polish directors, and a centenary tribute to the legendary director Wojciech Jerzy, whose impactful career spanned much of the 20th century. Visitors will also witness animation films from Poland and productions highlighting Indo-Polish cultural ties.

Besides the focus on Poland, the KIFF will screen films across various other categories. These include an international competition on moving images, competitions on Indian languages, Asian select film entries, a Bengali panorama, and national competitions on both documentaries and short fiction. The exact number of films and the division across categories will be announced shortly.
