The eligibility for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) has been expanded to include final-year graduate and postgraduate students, thanks to a recent amendment by the government. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), coordinating the pilot phase of the scheme, made this announcement on Wednesday following consultations with the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education.
This expansion in criteria allows students aged 18-25 to apply for structured, paid internships in leading companies via the PMIS portal. The initiative, which aligns with the National Education Policy's focus on experiential learning, aims to give students industry exposure before completing their education.
As part of the application process, students need to provide a No Objection Certificate from their educational institutions, ensuring their internship doesn't conflict with academic demands. Interns will receive a minimum monthly stipend of Rs 9,000, with the third round of the pilot phase currently ongoing.
