Maharashtra to Regulate Private Preschools with New Law
The Maharashtra government plans to introduce a law to regulate private preschools. This will make registrations mandatory to ensure quality standards. A Preschool Registration Portal has been established with 12,733 schools registered. The law aims to enhance childhood education quality and provide parents comprehensive information at state and district levels.

The Maharashtra government is set to introduce legislation to regulate private preschools, mandating mandatory registration and adherence to quality standards, according to School Education Minister Dada Bhuse.
Addressing the state assembly, Bhuse revealed the establishment of a 'Preschool Registration Portal' aimed at consolidating information and ensuring safe, quality education for children aged three to six.
So far, 12,733 schools have registered. The proposed law will enforce guidelines like a 20:1 student-teacher ratio, child-friendly infrastructure, and forbid entrance tests, with legal inputs from the Women and Child Development Department.
