Several students from Dr BR Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) joined a protest organized by the Students' Federation of India (SFI) on Tuesday, outside the university's Kashmere Gate campus, marking one year since the expulsion of four fellow students. The expelled students, affiliated with SFI, were accused of assaulting university officials during a protest in April of the previous year.
SFI Delhi state president, Sooraj Elamon, claimed the university is vilifying students who stand up for their rights, contrasting with AUD's past as a haven for free expression. The suspensions began in March, tied to allegations of unveiling cyber-bullying at the university. An indefinite hunger strike ensued in April.
Nadia, one of the expelled students, narrated a lack of transparency in the tribunal process before her expulsion in June 2025. She highlighted the inequality as the protestors faced harsher consequences than the alleged bullies. The case is under review by the Delhi High Court, with AUD officials maintaining their commitment to fairness.
