Meghalaya Member of Parliament Ricky AJ Syngkon has officially pressed the Centre for the appointment of a full-time director at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Shillong.
In a direct communication to the Ministry of Textiles, Syngkon underscored the absence of a stable leadership at NIFT Shillong, as highlighted in its quarterly report for October-December 2025. The lack thereof has compromised administrative continuity and quality of academia.
Syngkon emphasized the urgency due to unfilled positions across both administrative and teaching staff, resulting in overwhelming workloads and affecting academic and mentorship quality. He advocates for a swift appointment process to stabilize and enhance institutional operations.
