Rajasthan Cracks Down on Medical College Fee Violations

The Rajasthan government has issued a stern directive to private medical colleges, mandating adherence to the fee structure sanctioned by the state-level fee regulatory committee. Officials highlight that this measure aims to curb unethical fee overcharges.

Medical Education Secretary Ambrish Kumar stated that the initiative responds to numerous complaints concerning excessive fee charges by institutions. The directive aligns with a Supreme Court ruling intended to thwart the commercialisation of education through strict regulation of fees and admissions.

Colleges found imposing unauthorised charges, especially through mislabelled 'management quota' seats, face rigorous penalties, including mandatory refunds with interest. The government assures that these measures promote transparency and affordability in medical education.
