In a critical safety measure, a high-level Indian Railways team conducted a thorough inspection of rail bridges spanning the Ravi river on the Kathua–Madhopur section of the Jammu division, officials announced on Friday.
The operation, led by divisional railway manager Vivek Kumar, commissioner of railway safety Dinesh Chand Deshwal, and chief administrative officer Alok Mishra, primarily focused on evaluating ongoing repair efforts on a key bridge damaged by heavy rainfall in 2025.
This inspection included an in-depth review of structural and safety parameters, the bridge's load-bearing capacity, and essential equipment, crucial for ensuring train safety amidst challenging weather conditions.
