In response to increased summer travel and a rise in pilgrims heading to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway is set to enhance the Kolkata–Jammu Tawi–Kolkata Express with an additional sleeper coach. This measure will be effective from April 25 to July 2, an official announced.
This strategic move aims to boost confirmation chances for waitlisted passengers, reduce overcrowding, and increase safety and comfort on the journey, as per the official's statement. Given the peak travel and pilgrimage season, the additional coach is expected to minimize last-minute cancellations and secure berths for approximately 72-80 waitlisted passengers each day.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal mentioned that the waiting list is continually monitored to implement necessary measures. Passengers are advised to check berth reservation statuses through the official railway website or by contacting the helpline at 139.
