Jet Fuel Crisis Grounds Air Canada Flights to JFK

Air Canada announced it will halt flights from Toronto and Montreal to JFK International Airport this summer, attributing the suspension to escalating jet fuel prices driven by the conflict in Iran. The carrier confirmed the service will pause on June 1, to resume on October 25.

Despite the suspension, Air Canada will maintain its operations to LaGuardia and Newark airports, offering 34 daily flights from various Canadian cities. The airline pledges to assist customers affected by the change with alternative travel plans.

The rise in jet fuel costs has been significant, with prices reaching $4.32 per gallon, nearly doubling since the onset of the Iran conflict. This surge is prompting carriers like Air Canada, Lufthansa, and KLM to reconsider their route profitability and make necessary schedule changes.
