In a sudden turn of events, a section of hotels and restaurants in Chennai was forced to declare a holiday due to a scarcity of commercial LPG on Wednesday. This unexpected closure left early patrons disheartened, with many expressing hope that the central government would swiftly address the issue.
The shortage of LPG has already extended domestic booking periods from 21 to 25 days, raising concerns among locals. With the current LPG stockpile barely sufficient for a couple of days, businesses are feeling the pinch. Many hotels have pared down their menus, choosing to offer items requiring less LPG, like idli and sambhar.
Representatives from Tamil Nadu Hotels Association met with Chief Minister M K Stalin to discuss the crisis. In response, Stalin reached out to the Union government, urging them to prevent further repercussions on the public and commercial entities.
