Hospitality Industry Faces Crisis Amid LPG Supply Shortage in Odisha

The Hotel & Restaurant Association of Odisha (HRAO) has called upon Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to address disruptions in the supply of commercial LPG cylinders, which present operational challenges for the hospitality sector. The association warns that this shortage could jeopardize daily operations, leading to potential business closures and cancelations.

HRAO Chairman J K Mohanty emphasized that the hospitality industry is integral to India's tourism ecosystem, significantly contributing to employment and economic activity. Disruptions in essential services like LPG supply not only hinder service quality but also tarnish India's tourism reputation, affecting tourists' experiences.

The association highlights that the current LPG shortage has broader economic repercussions, impacting not just hotels and restaurants but also allied sectors dependent on a functioning hospitality industry. HRAO urges government intervention to prevent further disruption and protect the livelihoods of thousands employed in Odisha's hospitality sector.
