The Congress party has cited a report from the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) to allege that two close associates of the Adani Group used benami funds to acquire large stakes in the conglomerate. These allegations have been persistently denied by the Adani Group.
The party claims that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has obstructed their demands for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to thoroughly investigate the alleged 'scam' involving the business empire. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh distinguished between genuine entrepreneurship and growth fueled by opportunistic political relationships.
Despite ongoing accusations, there has been no substantive progress in ongoing investigations by SEBI into various financial activities of the Adani Group. The Congress continues to demand accountability, emphasizing the gravity and extent of the so-called Adani MegaScam.
