India-Norway Forge Stronger Economic Ties; Focus on Green Growth

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Norway's Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg in Oslo, where both leaders committed to enhancing bilateral economic cooperation. The ministers focused on exploiting the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) to boost economic activities, particularly in the blue and green economies.

Among key discussions was increasing collaboration in renewable energy, with a specific focus on solar power, rare earth processing, and carbon capture and storage. They also agreed to explore further investments through sovereign wealth and pension funds to solidify economic ties.

Stoltenberg expressed optimism about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Norway, a trip that could potentially broaden mutual cooperation. Sitharaman also engaged with Norwegian parliamentarians to discuss collaboration possibilities and invited them to explore India's financial hub, GIFT-IFSC.
