In a recent parliamentary address, President Droupadi Murmu celebrated the launch of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, which connects Kamakhya in Assam to Howrah in West Bengal. This modern train is seen as a significant achievement for Indian Railways, furthering the country's railway capabilities.
Murmu also lauded the Indian Railways for nearing complete electrification. Highlighting other notable advancements, she mentioned the direct rail link between Delhi and Aizawl, Mizoram, established with the Rajdhani Express, and the enthusiastic local response upon its arrival.
The President emphasized major infrastructure milestones, including the world's highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab River and the new Pamban Bridge in Tamil Nadu. She observed substantial investments in northeastern India, fostering economic growth and tourism by connecting regional capitals with broad-gauge rail lines.
