The Namo Bharat railway corridor, connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, has seen a notable increase in commuter traffic during the festival season, according to data from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
With an average daily ridership now around 55,000, the corridor's numbers soared past 60,000 during Bhai Dooj and reached a record 81,550 on its busiest day since operations began in October 2023. The NCRTC emphasized its popularity during festivals like Diwali and Chhath Puja, as it offers a fast, comfortable alternative to congested roads.
This 55-kilometer section with 11 stations connects major hubs and integrates smoothly with Delhi Metro, ISBT, and Indian Railways. With trains running every 10 minutes at up to 160 km/h, Namo Bharat provides a cleaner, efficient travel option, aligning with commuters' demands for speed and comfort amid rising pollution levels post-Diwali.
