'Chitrangada - Ek Sashakt Naari' set the stage ablaze at St. Andrew's Auditorium in Bandra on October 25, drawing resounding applause and critical acclaim. The second staging by Indrani Mukerjea Enterprise (IME) proved not just a performance but an experience, praised for its emotional depth and powerful narrative.
Indrani Mukerjea, reprising her role as Chitrangada, delivered a standout performance that critics hailed as 'a masterclass in balance -- regal and vulnerable.' Her portrayal of Tagore's warrior heroine, who defies societal expectations, earned her a lengthy standing ovation. Mukerjea described the audience's overwhelming response as validation of the production's deeper exploration of Tagore's timeless words.
Subrat Panda's debut as Arjun turned heads with his poised and heartfelt portrayal, adding an emotional layer to the performance. Director duo Madhumita and Tony Chakraborty retained Tagore's lyricism while intensifying its emotional immediacy, which resonated with the audience. Technical brilliance in music, lighting, and set design added to the show's success, further establishing IME's dynamic presence in the cultural landscape.
