Teens Sue xAI Over Distorted AI-Generated Images
Three Tennessee teenagers filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk's xAI, alleging its image-generation tools were used to create explicit images from their photos. The students seek class-action status for potentially thousands of similar victims. The lawsuit accuses xAI of knowingly allowing their tools to generate such content.
In a striking lawsuit this week, three teenagers from Tennessee took legal action against Elon Musk's artificial intelligence firm, xAI. They allege that the company’s image-generation technology was exploited to transform photos of them into explicit images without their consent.
The legal filing, made in California where xAI is headquartered, seeks class-action status. This could potentially represent thousands of victims, particularly minors, who may have been subjected to similar AI-generated distortions.
The lawsuit claims that xAI enabled the production of these images, knowing the potential risks involved, while local authorities have arrested the individual responsible for distributing the images. xAI is yet to comment on these serious allegations.
