Boosting Andhra's Tech and Maritime Sectors: Capgemini's Potential Expansion and Innovative Shipyard Launch
Andhra Pradesh's IT Minister, Nara Lokesh, has invited Capgemini to establish centers that could create 20,000 jobs and spearhead digital innovations. Additionally, the foundation stone for India's first autonomous maritime shipyard has been laid in Nellore, aiming to enhance maritime tech and defense capabilities alongside significant employment opportunities.

Andhra Pradesh is poised for a tech and maritime boost as IT Minister Nara Lokesh invites Capgemini to forge significant investment pathways in the state. During a meeting with Capgemini CEO Aiman Ezzat, Lokesh proposed setting up an IT development center and a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Visakhapatnam.
The proposal aims to create 20,000 jobs, with a focus on cloud services and Business Process Management. In addition, Lokesh suggested partnering with local universities for AI and digital labs and aligning with global tech partners to support enterprise sectors.
In a parallel development, the foundation stone for India's first Autonomous Maritime Shipyard was laid in Nellore. Spearheaded by Sagar Defence Engineering, the project seeks to position Andhra Pradesh as a leader in maritime robotics and autonomous shipbuilding, propelling India's indigenous defense and maritime innovation sectors.
