The Indian Coast Guard has launched two advanced Fast Patrol Vessels named 'Ajit' and 'Aparajit,' designed for multi-mission roles including coastal patrol and anti-piracy operations. Built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), these vessels mark a significant step in bolstering India's coastal surveillance and maritime safety capabilities.
This launch signifies the seventh and eighth vessels in a series of indigenous creations, highlighting India's growing strength in shipbuilding. The vessels measure 52 meters and weigh 320 tonnes, featuring controllable pitch propellers that enhance manoeuvrability and propulsion efficiency.
The launch event was attended by key figures, including Inspector General Bhisham Sharma. With these additions, the Indian Coast Guard continues to expand its fleet, demonstrating an increasing operational readiness and further establishing GSL as a leader in indigenous defence vessel production.
