GX Group's Photonics Leap: India Investment Targets Quantum Communication
Broadband equipment manufacturer GX Group plans to invest Rs 500 crore in establishing a photonic module and chip arm, GX Quantum Photonics Pvt Ltd, in India. The new unit aims to develop advanced photonics solutions for broadband, 5G/6G, and quantum communication, creating over 300 jobs and potentially addressing a USD 50 billion market.

On Friday, broadband equipment manufacturer GX Group announced plans to invest Rs 500 crore in establishing a photonic module and chip subsidiary in India. The new arm, GX Quantum Photonics Pvt Ltd, will be based in Manesar, Gurgaon, aiming to create over 300 direct jobs, according to GX Group CEO Paritosh Prajapati.
The initial phase of the investment targets a manufacturing facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, and the expansion of an existing R&D center in Chennai. Scheduled to start operations by Q1 FY27, the firm plans to release chips to the local market by October 2026, while also eyeing international markets such as the US, China, and Europe.
Focusing on advanced photonics modules for broadband, 5G/6G, and quantum communication, GX Quantum Photonics aims to address a USD 50 billion addressable market in India. The company has allied with Netherlands-based SMART Photonics BV for technology collaboration, with interest already being shown by major telecom players like Airtel and Tata Play.
