In a strategic move, Audi has appointed its accomplished endurance racer, Allan McNish, as the new racing director for its Formula 1 team. This announcement comes following the abrupt departure of the former team principal, Jonathan Wheatley, due to personal reasons.

McNish, who is entrusted with overseeing all trackside operations, including race strategy and driver management, will debut in his new role at the upcoming Miami Grand Prix. He will report to team principal Mattia Binotto, who returned to the position after Wheatley's exit.

McNish's appointment marks a pivotal shift for Audi, a team grappling with reliability challenges during its inaugural season after rebranding from Sauber. Despite a rocky start, McNish's extensive experience in the endurance racing circuit is expected to revitalize Audi's performance in the coming races.
