The team will be supported by Haslam Sports Group, which also owns the Cleveland Browns and operates Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew. 'As the NWSL continues its rapid growth, expanding to Columbus is a natural next step,' stated NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman, highlighting the city's rich soccer tradition and committed ownership.
The community is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the team's identity, including the selection of its name, colors, and crest. The Columbus team, alongside a new Atlanta addition, is anticipated to make a significant impact on women's sports nationwide.
