Tsitsipas Struggles: A Slide from Tennis Elite
Stefanos Tsitsipas faces an uncertain future in tennis as he confronts injury issues and fluctuating form. Despite reaching major finals in recent years, his latest early exit in Munich signals a decline, prompting him to consider more ATP 250 tournaments to regain his rhythm before major competitions.
Stefanos Tsitsipas exited the Munich court on Wednesday after suffering another first-round defeat, underscoring his decline in tennis rankings due to injuries and erratic performances. The former world number three now risks dropping into the 70s, marking his lowest rank in nearly a decade.
Opting for Munich over his usual Barcelona stop, Tsitsipas acknowledged that as his ranking declines, stronger opponents await him earlier in events. In a conversation with Tennis TV, he admitted, "I accept the challenge and my current state, as it's necessary to reclaim my rightful place."
Despite a strong showing in the past, including finals at the French Open and Australian Open, Tsitsipas' form has dwindled. A persistent back injury hampered last year's performance, and questions about his dedication have risen. To regain form, he plans to enter more ATP 250 events ahead of Roland Garros on May 24.
