Sunrisers Hyderabad's vice-captain, Abhishek Sharma, has been penalized 25% of his match fees and received a demerit point for an IPL Code of Conduct breach during a recent match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
The incident occurred when Sharma showed dissent towards a TV umpire's decision after a controversial catch verdict. The batsman walked off expressing disappointment, disagreeing with umpire Nitin Menon's decision to rule Varun Chakaravarthy's diving catch as clean.
Notably, Sharma's performance was instrumental in SRH's dominant 65-run victory, contributing 48 runs off 21 balls during the powerplay. The dispute, however, cost him a penalty as per the IPL's Level 1 offence regulations.
