Jacob Kiplimo Reclaims Half Marathon World Record with Stunning Performance

In a remarkable comeback, Ugandan athlete Jacob Kiplimo reclaimed the half marathon world record on Sunday, clocking in at an extraordinary 57 minutes and 20 seconds in Lisbon.

The 25-year-old outpaced the previous record set by Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha in Valencia in 2024 by shaving 10 seconds off the time, marking a return to form since he last held the title in 2021 on the same course.

Kiplimo's victory was particularly sweet after a 56:42 attempt in Barcelona last year was not recognized due to illegal pacing. Despite the setback, he triumphed in Lisbon, with Kenya's Nicholas Kipkorir and Gilbert Kiprotich trailing behind in second and third places.
