High-Altitude Challenge: Tsomgo Ultra Marathon Ignites Sikkim's Sporting Spirit

Sikkim's Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang officially commenced the high-altitude Tsomgo Ultra 5.0 Marathon on Sunday. Known for its rigorous challenge, the marathon included races of varying distances such as a 72 km ultra race, a 21 km half marathon, a 10 km run, and a 5 km fun run.

The event attracted a wide array of participants, including professional athletes, fitness aficionados, and amateur runners, all eager to tackle the unique challenge of high-altitude running. The marathon's diverse race categories ensured inclusivity for runners of all levels.

In his speech, the chief minister praised the enthusiastic participation, emphasizing the role such events play in fostering endurance, discipline, and healthy living, particularly among the youth. He also noted the escalating enthusiasm for fitness and outdoor activities across the state.
