Revamping India's Coaching Ecosystem: A New Era of Accreditation and Governance

India's coaching ecosystem is set for a transformation as Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced the phased implementation of a new framework. Led by Pullela Gopichand, the Task Force's recommendations promise a comprehensive overhaul.
The strategic plan includes the creation of the National Coach Accreditation Board (NCAB), a body tasked with setting national standards for coaching accreditation and overseeing a unified curriculum. This move aims to ensure consistent and high-quality coaching across all sports disciplines.
The Task Force also proposes a three-tier coaching system and a Target Olympic Podium Scheme for coaches. These steps seek to foster a practice-oriented training model while emphasizing ethics, inclusivity, and continuous professional development.
