This pivotal meeting came as Mumbai entered the knockouts with confidence, having topped Elite Group D. Their rivals, Karnataka, secured their position with a nail-biting victory over Punjab. Due to the unavailability of Wankhede Stadium, which will host the T20 World Cup from February 7, the high-stakes match has been moved to the MCA-BKC Ground, evoking excitement in domestic cricket circles.

Leading the Mumbai squad is India all-rounder Shardul Thakur, returning to captaincy post-injury, while Yashasvi Jaiswal, fresh from international duties, strengthens the batting lineup.
