Tiger Woods Sidelined Again: Hero World Challenge Update
Tiger Woods will not compete in the Hero World Challenge as he recovers from recent lumbar disc replacement surgery. The tournament, benefiting Woods' foundation, adds Jordan Spieth, Billy Horschel, and Akshay Bhatia to its roster. Woods has been absent since the British Open in July 2024.
Tiger Woods, the esteemed host of the Hero World Challenge, will be notably absent from the tournament taking place from December 4-7 in Albany, Bahamas. This decision comes as Woods recovers from a lumbar disc replacement surgery, leaving his return to competitive golf uncertain.
The Hero World Challenge, which supports Woods' charitable foundation, announced its final player lineup, featuring Jordan Spieth, Billy Horschel, and Akshay Bhatia. Woods, a 15-time major champion, has not competed since failing to make the cut at the British Open in July 2024. Earlier in March, he underwent surgery for a ruptured left Achilles tendon.
The tournament will showcase talents including twice defending champion Scottie Scheffler and 2016 winner Hideki Matsuyama of Japan, adding to the anticipation around this prestigious event.
