Paul Pogba's Imminent Return to AS Monaco: A New Chapter Begins
Paul Pogba is set to make his debut for AS Monaco after a long absence from competitive football. Previously banned due to a doping violation, Pogba is poised to return as the club prepares to integrate him back into the team. Monaco's coach emphasizes careful management of expectations.
Paul Pogba, who has been absent from competitive football since September 2023, may soon play for AS Monaco. Manager Sebastien Pocognoli is urging fans to manage their expectations as Pogba makes his return. The former Juventus and Manchester United star joined Monaco on a free transfer in June.
The 32-year-old midfielder faced a four-year ban in February 2024 for testing positive for DHEA, a substance that raises testosterone. After appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the suspension was reduced to 18 months.
"Things are progressing well, and I anticipate his return to the squad shortly," Pocognoli said. "We must evaluate him against his past performance, recognizing his growth and experience." Monaco aims to harness Pogba's skills as they face Nantes, sitting sixth in the league standings.
