Ruth Chepngetich Faces Three-Year Ban for Anti-Doping Violations
World marathon record-holder Ruth Chepngetich received a three-year ban from athletics due to anti-doping violations involving Hydrochlorothiazide. Originally suspended in July, the ban was reduced from four to three years after her admission to the Athletics Integrity Unit.
World marathon record-holder Ruth Chepngetich has been handed a three-year ban by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for anti-doping violations. The violations involve the banned diuretic Hydrochlorothiazide.
Chepngetich had initially been placed under provisional suspension in July. Her explanation for the positive doping test changed, leading the AIU to seek a four-year suspension.
However, the ban was reduced to three years following Chepngetich's admission of the violations, highlighting the ongoing efforts to ensure integrity in sports.
