The Uttarakhand government is set to offer complimentary pre-recruitment training to young men and women aspiring to serve as Agniveers in the Army. This initiative, directed by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, aims to bolster the recruitment process by providing systematic training across all 13 districts of the state.
According to officials, the Sports and Youth Welfare Department has crafted a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to realize this vision. Eligibility for the training requires candidates to be natives or permanent residents of Uttarakhand, or to be studying or working within the state. Additionally, high school graduation with at least 45% marks and a minimum of 33% in each subject is mandatory.
Beyond empowering local youth through military preparation, Dhami underscores the initiative as a reinforcement of Uttarakhand's proud military heritage. In an added step to secure the future of Agniveers, the state government plans to reserve positions in government jobs for them after their service period.
