Young Tigresses Roar: India U17 Women's Team Makes Historic AFC Asian Cup Entry

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has pledged a USD 25,000 reward to the India U17 women's football team for their landmark entry into the AFC U17 Asian Cup. This success follows decisive victories over Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, allowing India to top Group G and secure a place in the tournament.

This accomplishment marks India's first-ever qualification in this category, a significant milestone since their last participation in 2005, which did not involve qualifiers. The AIFF highlighted its extensive planning and initiatives, which included preparing the team through exposure in the Indian Arrows Women Juniors and competitive matches in the IWL 2.

Furthermore, the AIFF has been instrumental in promoting grassroots women's football through projects such as the ASMITA Women's Football Leagues. This initiative saw a significant increase in junior player participation and registered women footballers in India, fostering a stronger youth football structure.
