Australian cricket icon Steve Smith has announced his preparedness for the upcoming Ashes series, following a recuperative stint in New York and a return to practice nets in Sydney. Smith's readiness comes amid injury concerns surrounding team captain Pat Cummins.

After overcoming a finger injury incurred during the World Test Championship final, Smith expressed confidence in his form, stating, 'Honestly, it takes me two hits to get sorted. I feel like I'm ready to go now.' The star batsman has been focusing on strength training, which he claims has improved his game.

With Cummins yet to resume bowling, Smith is poised to lead Australia potentially. Despite uncertainty over Cummins' presence, Smith remains optimistic about his team's prowess, highlighting Scott Boland as a capable alternate, 'I mean, we've got a pretty good replacement in Scott Boland who I think is arguably one of the best bowlers in the world,' he shared.
