Marc Marquez, reigning MotoGP champion, has been sidelined following a severe crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix, forcing him to skip upcoming races in Australia and Malaysia. The crash involved a collision with Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi, resulting in Marquez suffering a fracture and ligament injury to his right shoulder.
The injury, occurring in the same arm as his 2020 fracture, impacted Marquez significantly as he was seen in considerable pain on the track before managing to get back on his feet. Ducati confirmed there is no connection to past injuries and reassured no significant bone displacement was identified.
Despite this setback, Marquez remains hopeful about returning to the competition in Portugal and Valencia later this season but emphasized that his recovery should not be rushed, prioritizing healing over immediate participation.
